STUDY AND SOLUTION RATIONALE
Ginkgo biloba, one of the oldest and most widely used medicinal herbs, is nowadays widely marketed for cognitive health, as it may help with memory, anxiety, and tinnitus, among other health disorders.
The typical extract has issues with flowability and compactability and therefore, its supplements are traditionally manufactured via high shear wet granulation (HSG). As a result, there are not that many dosage forms that are once-a-day formula (OAD) of 480mg standardized Ginkgo extract.
IMCD created a direct compression (DC) formula with a high dose of liposomal complex Ginkgo. The immediate-release, moisture-protected coated tablet provides a single dose of Ginkgo extract that is easy to swallow. We used a liposomal Ginkgo extract that enhances uptake and aids in protecting from digestion.
